19.05.2022So they don't spend time on social media to "focus on improving the game" but they're willing to spend time to give a cease and desist letter to someone who actually wants to improve the game? Doesn't make sense.

14.05.2022Even if they didn't do a stats menu but just have Milky Mode, I'd be thrilled.

14.05.2022in my opinion multiplayer wont be enough to save xl's future. it needs so much more than co-op. ill keep seeing how session progresses and see what skate 4 turns into.

14.05.2022I agree that hype and making big promises that can’t be kept is a road that leads nowhere. And I’m grateful for them even creating this game.
Easy Day needs to communicate though. Period. Your points around them focusing on making the game are totally valid. But this company needs a PR team or person. Just to let the community know they are seen/heard.
They don’t have to reply to negative comments. But turning off comment sections on their IG or ignoring the cries of the people who have supported them (I purchased 2 whole copies of this game, one of which was more or less a donation because I’m not playing console) is unacceptable and poor business practice.
It’s not the whole studio’s fault. It’s mostly Dain it seems, and that has less to do with the DawgVinci drama than one might assume. Ever since he took over it’s been quieter/less enthusiastic/less engaged, full stop. He’s dragging their name and image at this point by refusing to allow someone to engage with the community. And the community suffers as a result. 🤷♂️

14.05.2022I think that when the update will finally come out it won't be any different from the beta version pc players have, other than maybe some bug fixes and stuff. In my opinion they won't even add any new maps if not some from mod.io. Creature studio gives us the feeling like they're always trying to improve their game adding new stuff, where as eazy days does the opposite, at this point I almost feel like they haven't made any improvements since they announced multiplayer. In the end I think that, if they added xl controls in session, they would be like the SKATE controls……. they will be added just to make some players get into session but they would probably feel pretty buggy and not work for every trick, so it's just better to get used to the controls session has right now hoping they will make them feel better in the future. keep the awesome content coming BTW, I can't wait for that xl vs irl video you're working on!!!
MewMew
14.05.2022I think the switch controls just comes down to preference. I skate irl too and I cannot for the life of me get used to the XL switch controls, Session's just make more sense to me. I think whichever controls one plays with first, they prefer.

14.05.2022The method of releasing unfinished games as 1.0 like they have with console only works if they keep developing it, look at No Man Sky. Unfortunately I don’t see this effort being put into SXL for console players.
THPS 1+2 work out of the box, Skate 1, 2 and 3 work straight outta the box. SXL needs so much love that it hasn’t got from its devs. Mods are extra, not the feature!
Tristan
14.05.2022You can skate the roofs in session you just have to build your way up with the object dropper
Jesus Loves puppers
14.05.2022Regardless of the devs and the amount of content, SXL will always be superior simply because it has procedural animations. And for a simulator of a sport about stylized movement it is the most important factor.
Even though i personally think session has a lot more and better (way better) maps, graphics, sounds, tricks and streamlined communication with the dev team, SXL is always a step ahead by default just because of procedural animations, so until Creature studios integrates it in their game, there isn't really any competition.

13.05.20229:22 I gotta disagree with you on that.

13.05.2022I completely disagree on the point about Session and XL being directly comparable because it's been the same amount of time, the time is ultimately irrelevant, it's the actual stage of development that matters. XL is 1 year past 1.0, that implies every intended feature is fully implemented and in its final form, whereas Session is a pre alpha, not even alpha yet, only about half of the intended features are added right now, and nothing is in it's final form or even close to being in its final form. It's like taking a fully cooked and served meal and comparing it to a meal that's only half way done and still has raw ingredients on the side waiting to be added to the pot. Doesn't matter if both meals have been cooking for the same amount of time, one is finished and nicely presented on the plate, the other is simply not done, I feel it's unfair to compare them both as if they're at the same stage. Not to say they can't be compared at all, of course they can, but you gotta take into account the fact that one is a final product and the other isn't even close.

13.05.2022Love the talking and longer video Milky!

13.05.2022One last comment.
The thing about Skater XL is it definitely is the best skateboarding game to have been released, and it's for sure revolutionary. I give them credit for what they have done.
But the reason why I uninstalled it is because I'm tired of game studios (AAA or Indie) releasing incomplete games, promising there's gonna be updates, and big things coming, and then NOT talking about it, not releasing things, not communicating etc.
We have all seen small studios bust out INCREDIBLE finished games, and completely live up to their word. Not even hype. But their word.
Senua's Sacrifice won awards when it was released.
A 6 person indie team made that game from the ground up.
Easy Day released pretty much a beta, and sold it for $40, and have yet to properly expand upon the game or even communicate.
As for the Dawg situation. Easy Day might allow open source modding so we can mod, but they're trying to cease his mods despite them being free when they're finished. That's hardly open source.
Sorry, Milky, my homie. But I really don't think Easy Day should be given a platform or any sort of credit. Skater XL died when Jon left and we got what's his name. That's why studios get away with pulling this kind of stuff.
When it gets to the point where your player base wants refunds, and are deleting your game from their hard drives, it's a pretty big sign that you fucked up.
They would be stupid to keep being quiet about what they're doing. That's part of the reason why all of this is going on. Because they don't communicate.
And if Easy Day says they're gonna address something, they should. Regardless of if you think they have to or not. The fact they didn't respond just shows how terribly out of touch they are.

11.05.2022I absolutely give credit to Jon West. The rest of ED? Well I don’t know who that actually is.
Hard for me to extend anything to Dain though. Not at this point. But Jon? Yeah. I wish he was still around to make the game what it should be.

11.05.2022this doesnt have much to do with the video but would you consider showing exactly how you use each mod you have on sxl? i dont think im doing shit right and it makes the game really frustrating to play, im just tryna have nice stats and a cool looking skater yk…

11.05.2022we don't need hype we need communication obviously not empty promises but give us a road map ,videos showing improvement like session, post on insta or a blog with all of these. Like why dig a hole when you can talk to the community you built and help us understand your vision for the future
Devin Valdivia
11.05.2022I dunno man, I think you’re coming off way too easy on Easy Day here. Some of your points are valid, yet end of the day, we’ve seen way better efforts from teams just as small or smaller. some expectations people have here are too high, but easy day flat out have not met the expectations they set, and they have utterly failed to foster a healthy community.
SXL is a tech demo being sold as a retail product. An extremely good one, and I don’t even mean that in a demeaning way, but that’s all it is. There’s no progression, there’s no options, there’s nothing in the base game beyond the basic mechanics working in a basic state. The content has come from outside. The longevity comes from the outride. And for what it is, it’s really strong. But we were promised more, and ED has not come close to following through.
If it weren’t for mods, I don’t know that you or nightspeeds or anyone would still be making content with it. What easy say gave us isn’t enough, period. They get credit for what they’ve done, but no more than that.

09.05.2022Peoples expectations were built on monthly releases on console. Fact from Oct 2020 until the last map it was monthly apart from Yaky warehouse that was 2 months. I had to track them for my team to try to get console drops and we did. We worked with Xl for all of Xmas 2020. We did the Santa suit. We talked plenty albeit brief in each exchange but they were talking to teams.
They stopped communicating after the the petition and that is something you kinda ignored here man. They said they have a vision and won't share it. That was the thing that started a wider group saying FU to ED. I still love this game and I still agree that SXL controls are far better and my name says why because you have only facts about how the inputs are just wrong in Session from a skaters POV BUT they are also far from finished, even with the mods. Too many tricks missing and the separation between grabs and flips etc are bad, they need to merge into 1 move as you don't do a kickflip catch the board with your feet then grab on a ramp, you flip and catch with your hand.
I say it is a almost complete STREET skating sim even in vanilla. Neither Session or XL are vert games yet, both have bad ways of dealing with maintaining speed on vert and that "ruins the immersion" completely. Mad respect for the few out there that can skate vert in XL, I see you. Session not so much.
I cannot understand the people that think there is nothing wrong with how the controls in session don't map to skating. Switch is harder and for ME I want switch to be harder but I been pushing up for a while now.
Fact though about PC and cost, I have paid easily $500 in supporting modders and mappers. I wish a Youtuber would recognise how screwed PS4 players are, I am not one but they really have no options, you even tried session and will play it as you said, Xbox can but PlayStation is screwed over.
End of the day the majority of people just wont accept that for most of us 3 yrs ago there was only Skate 3 and we complained daily to EA. Now we have choices people act spoilt and immature. That is sad..

09.05.2022Telling Dawg to fuck off is just representative of everything Easy Day does as a company, taking everything from the community, relying on us to create everything for them. We’ve made the game so much more than it was. They aren’t involved with the community, they just take. Maps, skins, multiplayer: the community did all of this. Even most of the official maps are just cleaned up versions of mod maps. Easy Day’s complete lack of appreciation for what mods have done for them is nuts, and lack of communication just entrenches the negativity and lack of hope.
The game is a great slice of bread to pile up on, but without the community, there is no sandwich. Controls can only make a game so enjoyable.
Easy Day can rot. There is almost nothing they can do to bring me back at this point, and the community is right to abandon them.

09.05.2022Takes 5 minutes for Easy Day to tell the fans what they’re working on!

09.05.2022Idk why people keep talking about the studio size. That's entirely their fault that they don't expand their team size. They got damn good sales for an indie game so saying they may be tight on money is odd to me. Another thing I don't understand is that typically in studios, big or small, there's people working on different things… So where is all the stuff the artist(s) are working on? Every single dev is working on multiplayer? Oh and btw they had the money to market in the biggest skateboarding competition~ can't imagine the price tag for that
Not to mention there's also other small indie teams that push out way more updates to their games. I'm just so tired of the same old excuses. Session has a small team also, they have no problem communicating and pushing out updates. Also what you said about the session animations, SXL uses animations too. It's mocapped. The difference is that it's physics based animations that were sort of fused together with the mocap. So it gives it a lot smoother realistic look. I'm sure this is Creature's end goal but on a more advanced and polished level.
Also a nollie flip isn't a switch flip. Shouldn't be the same input imo. I understand SXL's controls and why they are the way they are and I get your explanation. But when I'm thinking about it literally I just don't see switch flips the same as nollie flips so I'd like them to feel different on my controller too. Session still being in pre alpha does matter, it does not matter that they've been in development for about the same time. Creature has a much larger scale for a game in mind and a lot, if not everything, is still in development and will have many improvements over time.
I guarantee you the main reason SXL has thrived so much is because of how good it feels and heavily because of the kindness of the skating community that has been begging for a new skateboarding game for years. If any other non-skating game released as a 1.0 game in similar state there would be a shitstorm.

09.05.2022Sxl on console will die at this rate we need a statsmenu, maps, clothes, board width customization so much shit and they won’t acknowledge any of it it’s doomed to fail at this point multiplayer won’t save this sinking ship
LeFourbeFromage
09.05.2022I heard a long time ago on the released stream of the Beta session that they want to add "experience" or "practice". For exemple, if you're regular and never do switch stuff, it'll be hard, slow and low pop. The more you practice your nollie / switch / Fakie, the more pop you'll get and the easier it'll be. I think that's a reason why its kind of junky right now because Regular and Switch are quite the "same".

07.05.2022I cant stand the excuses being made here. " weekly patch notes are not that simple" We dont give a high flying fuck about that at this point. ANY communication from the team would help. "Game is still in beta" where is your fuckin roadmap? my 2 year old can draw up basic plan of her day on paper with crayons and drool. Just opening this game and playing it now is not only morally grinding because Dain is a wet, but because its already gone from everything (Mods) being conveniently located in one website, to everyone wanting their own cool little discord channel with 20 people in it that only ever visited to download the mod. Weak Schoolgirl shit.

07.05.2022To be completely honest the problem is with console is when you came on most Fridays you would have a few new modded clothes, decks and trucks and the occasional map. When you stop a steady steam line of content which did make the game feel fresh it does effect your feelings towards the game.
I’m not like most of this community who except AAA level content drops but communication with anything is KEY. Just that little tweet of something saying “Bare with us guys were working on a new update it takes time” makes such a difference.
I take 1-2 weeks break from the game if it feels stale and when I come back I’m always hyped to find new spots. And all the people bitching about spending £30 or $40 need to get a grip you know and I know you have sunk more time into this more than most AAA in the past year. AAA game are £70 on the ps5 not including season pass and your lucky to get 70hrs out of most. Skater XL literally has infinite 1000’s of hours replay ability.
The game needs an update and that’s facts and to have a community manger would make a great deal of difference. It would also be nice if Easy Days would highlight community leaders and modders so people feel more appreciated.
Peace&Love

07.05.2022Community does better than most companies anyways. now companies have a hard time giving back feedback or information. like rockstar games for instance they talk all about GTA but they didn’t bother with RDR 2, took them 7 months to update RDR 2. and it’s their newer game
Broadway_y
07.05.2022I totally get where you’re coming from, but it’s just downright painful how meek and uncaring the studio seems by not even addressing anything. Also I don’t really feel like comparing session and sxl is appropriate at the moment, one advertises itself as 1.0 and as a game that’s seen as finished, like session states they’re still working on it. Cre-a-ture is going for a different kind of game than what Skater xl is vanilla.
